This piece was coil built with micaceous clay that I used for the first time during my art residency in Taos this past summer

Painted with terra sigillata made with clays from Arizona and Alabama

or that were given to me by other potters

The markings on the pot come from a fern leaf which acts as a resist on the surface and blocks smoke from entering the pot
