Damascene Swartland Chenin Blanc '24 Coastal Region Jurgen knows exactly how toDamascene's winemaker, Jean Smit, seeks out extraordinary vineyards across the Cape to make wine that encapsulates the remarkable diversity it has to offer. For the 2024 Swartland Chenin showcase, Jean turned to two old vine vineyards one on the granitic hilltop of the Paardeberg and the other on a sunny slopes of Jakkalsfontein. A cold, wet winter, and a warm, dry start to summer at both sites set the stage for a dramatic Chenin of tension and depth.
