Earth Tone Kwali Teapot reconnecting with the landThe idea behind this piece was to create a teapot based on traditional African water vessel forms. The shape of the body of this teapot comes from Gwari water vessels from Nigeria which became more widely known through the work of Ladi Kwali. The leaf motif represents the rapid plant growth we are experiencing with the summer rains. The surface is decorated with terra sigillata made with both commercial clay and foraged clays from Tennessee, Ontario
