The very small leaves, and twigs, are mid green, and the flowers are an interesting mix of pink, red, yellow and orange, appearing salmon pink from a distance. It flowers on upright or slightly arching twigs in late spring and early summer. It's important with cytisus to cut back immediately after flowering to give the shrub as much time as possible to form the young shoots
