These shifters are designed with a foldable end to prevent the shifter from being severely damaged during a fall. These are one inch longer than the stock OEM. This helps a lot if you have larger feet or use riding boots. Since this mounts directly to the shift shaft the sloppy linkage system will be removed providing a smoother shift.
