In 1891 Thomas Bates left the partnership and the business was continued by Charles Waine as CW until 1913 when Ltd was added. In 1920 Charles Waine began to only use the trade name English China but the firm closed shortly thereafter. This item is a fine porcelain tea plate manufactured by Charles Waine & Thomas Bates, Longton, between 1885 1891, when the firm
