I have seen this pouch attached to the ID disk in many different ways but typically the ID doesn't actually go inside the pouch but is kept outside the pouch and under the flap

VM40 Volksgasmaske in Canister dday2023 I have seen this pouchExtremely nice VM40 volksgasmaske (people's gas mask) in its original carrying can complete with the original canister straps. The can has some dents and wear, but the overall condition is so good its hard to imagine this was not stored well and looked after the past 80 years. The gas mask is virtually like new, with only the yellowed lenses standing out as a detractor. It does still contain some asbestos, so I would not put it on. The canister is
